“I want you to do better in life than I ever did!”
The problem is, most parents do not have a plan for how that dream is going to happen … until now!
Growing up in poverty, I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of how not having a quality education impacted students in the public-school system who lived in low-income communities. So, I decided to become a teacher.
Research suggests that children who typically come from a single parent household and instability in the home, do not perform well in school and go on to become a statistic of high school dropout, school to prison pipelines systems, and crime. But what was the issue with my brothers? We didn’t fit that criteria. My siblings and I grew up in a two parent household in a stable home and decent community. However, each of my 3 brothers became statistics.
I set out on a mission to break this cycle!
Armed with the knowledge that the men in my family do not graduate high school, I pulled my son from the public school system at the age of 7, and began homeschooling him. Now, just 4 short years later, my 11 year old son, who is in the 8th grade, is three grade levels above his peers. He scored higher than 75% of his peers in the upper grade level on the standardized tests, and is now on his way to an early high school graduation by the age of 15.
Not only did we break the cycle, but we shattered the ceilings so that other Black males, who come from poverty, can follow in our path - with no restrictions!
Are you ready to learn how we did it?
